Hot off the Espresso Machine! The ERP Espresso Machine; Enterprise Software Wake-up Call. Today’s news is yesterday’s disaster! Our espresso machine story started about twenty years ago. I was working in Italy for Litton Data Systems. The project was exciting, but Italy was fascinatingly impressive. I had my first cup of espresso. I didn’t understand why someone would buy two ounces of pure condensed caffeine. Then I had my first taste of the world’s best, Italian. I have never been able to get this out of my mind. I was now in pursuit of the perfect cup of espresso and the perfect machine to brew it.
This started a trek of buy one and returned one. Because it took over 30 minutes for two cups/shots, this was not going to be easy. Then, buy another and find that it was inadequate for espresso, but maybe okay for tea. There was not enough water storage to make more than one cup at a time. Then a combination coffee and espresso machine. One after another, the espresso machines proved to be inadequate, costly and frustrating. Along the way, local espresso coffee houses became a thing of beauty and joy. I was able to buy espresso the way I wanted. I soon noticed each time I purchased an espresso it cost me 3-5 dollars. And since each machine I bought broke down within six months, inadequate the day I bought it or sadly thrown away. The cost of these machines, time, and energy to learn and become proficient and get a real good espresso cup was wearing me down. So along comes a new idea! I will search for a “real espresso machine.” One that renders perfection with each cup processed. A tool that extracts all the full bodied flavor and richness of coffee and outlasts all previous espresso, and combos. I found a local LA manufacturing company, an Italian brand espresso machine; Pasquini. Since they are local, any repairs, parts, support, training and most of all the assurance I can buy it once, for the life of my espresso needs. I also saved money because I rarely go to local espresso coffee houses. I have the quality espresso and machine performance I need right at home. I turn it on and in 8-10 minutes I have hot and fresh espresso. I save time, money, frustration and distress from not getting what was paid for. Let’s look at enterprise software and the espresso machine journey. Espresso Machines and Enterprise Software are quite similar.
